What to do in 2013

I can’t believe that it’s nearly 2013 already! It seems like only yesterday that I was chatting to my friends at DomainFest (now webfest). Coming into a new year reminds me that time is a precious resource that we all have a limited supply. I find that the most important thing to do is to allocate my time to where it will have the greatest impact.
I often speak with domain owners that try to do a multitude of tasks, everything from finding domains, managing traffic, coordinating sales, building sites and of course dropping domains that don’t “make the grade”. It’s crazy! No one can possibly be an expert in everything!
What do I do? I outsource my traffic revenue maximisation to ParkLogic. I know that I’m one of the founders of ParkLogic but I treat my own domains purely as an investment and let the ParkLogic systems and processes manage everything……in other words, I’m just a customer. They’re the experts at maximising my traffic revenue….let them do their job.
Any sales requests I handle myself…..which leaves me to the task of building out not domains but other businesses. That’s where my focus is right now. I’ve just overhauled Whizzbangsblog and upgraded it to Joomla 2.5 and I’ll shortly be doing that for a number of my other properties. I’m also pulling in some experts in this area to help me out…..I know a lot about development but there are others that know a lot more than me.
If I was to recommend one thing to domain owners in 2013 it would be this. Stop trying to doing everything yourself. Often spending a few dollars can save you a fortune in time……which you only have a limited supply. In the meantime, Happy New Year!
