I just read this quote from Michael in Ron Jackson's State of the Industry post here
http://dnjournal.com/cover/2008/january.htm in case you just crawled out from a rock

Michael said:
There will be an increased number of support companies for the industry that assist domainers in managing their portfolios of domains. This is similar to the gold rush spawning shovel and pick manufactures. Many of these companies will become very lucrative and go on to become very successful businesses but I believe that a lot of them will soon disappear.
So, I post this for a few reasons...
1. I completely agree. Domain management takes a lot of time (parking, forwarding, contact updates, reports, accounting, chasing drops, reading blogs and forums, searching for opportunities, transfers, sales, sorting, renewals, development, managing affiliate programs and much more depending on the size and value of your portfolio and level of development).
So, I think there is a "pick and shovel" industry that will develop.
2. Is anyone engaged in these services now? Is there a particular consulting related blog or thread or forum that you recommend?
3. Purely selfish point here and I don't post necessarily for advertising but I would like to get feedback on the types of services that I'm offering at
http://RegistrantServices.com (just pointing to a page at my retail sales site for now).
I am thinking about starting a blog or even forum to focus on domain management services.
All thoughts welcome.
