I'm Jeff and I live in the eastern part of Tennessee in the U.S. I have been in the internet game for a little over tens years. Mainly in design, conception and management for news media company.
I had acquired a few domains through the years that I hated to let go when the projects were over or clients let them drop. I never did major things with those domains, just let them point to other sites. A little over a year ago, my employer at the time was going in different direction then where I wanted to go, so I left to strike out on my own. It seems the "old media" has a hard time grasping what they can do with the Internet and be profitable with it. I had tried to pick up a few of the clients my old employer had abandoned with their change and do modestly well with this venture.
It wasn't until recently I started to park some of the domains I had to build a side revenue stream. I found for the time and investment it can be more profitable that what I was doing at the time. When the domains have some quality in the words (kind of a no brainer there). Other domains just wouldn't preform unless they were older and had a traffic pattern established. Today I have been able to make a fair income, better than where I started from, but I see that I can do much better with it the future.
Today I've got a little over 300 domains that keep the bills paid, but I'm here hoping to pick-up a few pointers and increase my income in the process. With two teenagers a couple years away from college I'll need all the help I can find. So thanks for sharing in your blog and through this board.
